I've been very fortunate to have found publishers that really like my work. As a kid, I dreamed of being published. It took a while, but here I am! I think it was all about finding my niche. Of course, spending years honing your craft doesn't hurt either! The truth is, I'm a better composer now. I've matured, and frankly, I've gotten good at what I love doing. Not a lot of people can honestly say that.
Anyway, a number of my sacred pieces have just gotten accepted by International Liturgy Publications (ILP), a Catholic music publisher based in Tennessee. They had already published my Mass setting, "Mass of Praise and Glory", and wanted to see other pieces I had written. In fact, they requested first dibs on anything I might submit. So out of eleven manuscripts I sent, they accepted ten. These include primarily liturgical songs and octavos (choral anthems).
I'm looking forward to what the future may/will bring. As long as I keep writing, I'll be happy. (It is a form of meditation for me...I really can get lost in what I'm doing!) Of course, royalty checks do help. They're the icing on the cake...;)
